Dam fences could stop cane toad spread

Toad-proof fences around man-made dams could stop the spread of the toxic pests in some arid parts of Australia, scientists say.

  1. The researchers are no doubt also researching biological controls which would be aimed at complete wipe out of the toads. Some genetic modification which renders them sterile or edible, would be a good way to go.

  2. I don’t understand why we mess around with the cane toad problem, put a bounty of 5 cents per toad on their heads and set up collection stations to take them.

    The local kids would halve the population in the first year.
