Just recently I took on a unit with a high mathematical content. A few years ago the so called Work Allocation Models were developed on all staff.
After some review I was sort of pushed into half time mode, salary is now around $40,000 pa. This single unit being new for me has required that I work actually full time. It is gruelling trying to explain fairly advanced mathematical ideas to students who have only about Year 8 math skills.
I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up, how I wish we just had more time to think management want more and more out of us and we teachers feel like we are at the rear end of the Hierarchy in the University. Luckily I am coming near the end of my working life.
Its getting too hard
Yes, the creation of part-time positions for full-time jobs. Another way universities get more out of staff without paying for it.
